#PAR backup

intend to back up series of ANI files from PAR drive to backup tape. I'm using
the new 1.5 software. Which is safest – export native ANI files to my system HD
and then to BACKUP tape or directly from PAR to BACKUP tape. Also, when
restoring from Backup tape… do you go directly to the PAR or to your system
HD first. With all the previous problems many experienced with previous
versions of the software, I want to be very careful. Obviously it would be
great to go direct to backup and back again. Thanks for any advice. BTW, 1.5 is
running fine. However, the other day I had a total hang while in the PAR
software and had to soft boot. Odd, since in all the time I've been using the
PAR I have never crashed. Only change to my system environment was a drastic
reduction of SMARTDRV to conserve on resources while running 3-DS <usually run
SMARTDRV at 2mb, but now reduce it to 512k for 3-DS… I am compelled to run
smartdrv due to EISA/SCSI double buffer reqs.> Jeffrey

I use a Colorado PowerTape 4 GB SCSI-2 and no problem since 1.5
Directly from PAR to TAPE and vice-versa.
Compression is always set to NO, because it takes much more time and
it hardly can compres anything, to make sure… use the verifyoption a few
times.

Maybe not only this morning, probably also a part of the afternoon.
I have two 1.6 GB MicroPolis drives and i takes > 6 houres.
Transfer from the PAR through the DOS-box is slow !

technology in perspective! Anyway, scheduled the back-up for times when I am
either doing some analog animation (gasp) or sleeping [seems I usually eat
while working] Jeffrey (slave to stop-frame)
