#Run 3D-Studio in Windows
4 messages in this thread
I wonder if the 3D Studio Relese 4 will work perfectly in Windows background.
My computer can successfully run it under Windows and switch to Windows but
when I switch back to 3D Studio, my computer crashes (blank screen and keyboard
freezes). I used the PIF program to run it. Is there any way to make changes
in PIF to make it run smoothly in Windows. I have Pentium 66 mhz with 16 mb
RAM. I just wanted to know if it is possible to run it under Windows.
Thanks.
Sounds like a graphic card/driver problem. We had similar problems until we
received updated drivers from the card manufacture.
Mark's comment sounds plausible. I find that I can "run" 3D Studio by shelling
out to DOS and starting 3DS. I run Windows at 1024x768x24M, on a Matrox
Impression Plus. When I move from Windows back to 3DS, I have to "refresh" my
3DS screen by moving from the 3D Editor to the Materials Editor (F5) and back.
I do use that video resolution set on my computer in Windows. I can still run
3D Studio and quit back to Windows perfectly. When I switch back to Windows
and run some applications in Windows and when I want to go back to 3D Studio.
My computer freezes and my monitor went off (enery star monitor). I wish there
would be a way to do that while I am rendering the animaions in background and
still use my computer to run other Windows applications at the same time. I
did not tell you which video card I have, it's Diamond Viper PCI. Thanks for
some help.
