#Disk-to-tape question
5 messages in this thread
I've rendered a 3DS file to a series of numbered .tga files, which I had
hoped to record to videotape using the Disk-to-Tape command with a Diaquest
DQ-422 animation controller and Panasonic 7750 VTR. My concern is that it
seems as if it takes longer to output to tape this way than if I had
rendered straight to videotape; the rendering of the individual .tga images
took roughly 30 seconds, while the output to tape takes a great deal
longer. Is this to be expected?
It sounds like your VTR is going through a very long pre-roll sequence. It
should only take 10-15 seconds per edit on the 7750. Maybe another person
on forum who uses the 7750 can help out. If not, you can definitely call
Diaquest tech support. (415/526/7167)

Thanks Gary! You've confirmed my suspicion that it shouldn't take THAT long
per edit. Now, to find the source of the problem…
Thanks again!
I've gotten good results w/ 5 secs on the AG-7750. A good Beta deck could
doit in 2 secs.
5 seconds per edit is extremely fast for an SVHS deck. I'm impressed. The
laserdisc recorder we've got takes about 2 seconds…
