Well, consider the ability to support more than one set of coords on a single object a wish list item for an update. This is (at least for me) a very important feature that would help out tremendously in painting complex forms, and I was greatly dissapointed to see it missing. (It would also be great if you could see more than one map at once, even if you could only paint on one at a time) … and there're more wishes (sorry, but I'm just full of 'em). It would be real useful in touching up existing materials to be able to call up a list of the materials assigned to the loaded object, get a list of bitmaps used in the material, and be able to load a chosen map onto the object… all from within the routine (that's possible, no?). This would make it much easier to remember which single image out of the many maps in a directory is the one assigned to what you're working on. And finally, how about having the option to just load in selected faces from an object to work on, instead of the whole thing. Also, put in my vote for a larger work window, and the ability to move and assign mapping coords inside the module. Ok, thats all I can think of right now… 🙂 Thanks, David

Unfortunately, that information is not available from IPAS. We can get the material name, but not a list of images associated with it. (Unless I'm mistaken!) Brent

It's a PXP material browser demo that will read all the attributes of a material and let you view the maps assigned, right from the 3d editor. David

David, Thanks for the info. We'll take a look at it and report back. We have determined that we could support multiple mapping settings for a single object with one of two methods: 1) Whatever faces are selected before entering MeshPaint could be read and used. 2) MeshPaint would pop up a menu with material names allowing the user to select which part of the object was to be used. The entire object would probably still have to be visible, but we could grey it out. Neither of these suggestions will make it into 1.0, which was completed today. We can probably put together a quick update with these features and a few others within a short amount of time. Any suggestions on implementation would be welcomed. Brent

I really appreciate your willingness to be responsive to users. >>Any suggestions on implementation would be welcomed. I would second the ones that have been mentioned: Ones like scrolling color picker with more colors and larger workspace would certainly be convenient. Others like a clone brush of an opened image would extend the functionality of the program. The mapping limitation, however would be my first second and third priorty(G). Thanks Ed

Edward, Thanks again. I only wish we would have received the mapping requests a week or two earlier. We will implement something in a short amount of time as an update. Brent

Both of those implementations sound good, Brent. -Alan

It would be real helpful to implement both of those options. Bringing in just selected faces would help to speed redraws and renders on complex objects by keeping the geometry overhead down. And having the option to just paint on the material of choice is greatly needed. Instead of just greying out the unrealevant faces, it would be REAL nice if it was possible (as a user option) to render the bitmap(s) used in the other materials, not just the one being painted on. This way it would be easy to paint details on one edge of a map that line up with the edge of another with separate coords. This can be quite difficult if you can't see what you're trying to line up. I know rendering more than one map at a time would slow things down, but in some cases, it would be well worth it, and it would only be an option, so it shouldn't effect normal operation. Anyway, thanks for paying attention to our requests, it makes me feel better about buying a plug-in when I know that even when it is basically finished, the developer still solicits and considers suggestions for improvements. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll forward your comments to J.J. It is likely that what you describe coud be done. After completing 1.0, we had the "what do we do next?" conversation, and your ideas were at the top of the list. There are a lot of things that we can do with this thing in the near future. Brent
