I suppose that is because 10 bit planes yelds 4096 colors, or is by math wrong
(I ordered a HP16C a while back). What I mean is a 4096 color translator to
take a "normal" bitplanes bitmap and convert it to HAM in real time.

Well, 2^12 is 4096, last time I checked. Consult your HP16! <he he>, Course, I
hear Bell Labs figured out a way to compress 8 bits down to 7. (Part of their
program to develop logic gates with negative delay). DIGI-VIEW does contain
such a routine, i.e. starts with 12 bits and makes a HAM screen out of it.

Excuse the interuption, but have you seen the playboy cover demo? Is it by any
chance an example of a HAM screen? It sure looked like more than 32 colors, and
it didn't seem to have as much flicker as the mandril demo. -Jim
