Angelo – The problem is the dimensioning. We have done the LISP for 2d
drawings and I would like to go to 3d solids. The AME manual suggest that
you create separate 2d views and then the changes are what will kill me.
If I change the solid I then have to change the 2d view. Then if the dim's
are in paper space I have to change them separtely as well. I'm not sure I
see enough advantage to go to solids.

Ahhh, I see where I miss-communicated. I guess what I was suggesting was
that a change is "completely re-created" via my "vaporware" external
parametric program. The dimensioning may be tough. I guess my thought was
that given parts with "similar" geometric qualities that are generated from
scratch, the different entities would have the same handles (again, you'll
have to excuse me…while I make this stuff up as I go along). The
geometric important points can be calc'd in the external program also.
Thus I think you have all the info to generate the modeling and
dimensioning script file…..I think <g>.
There I go, thinking with my mouth open again <g>….

Angelo – I like vaporware. It always works perfectly <G>. I'm sure I'm
miss-communicating as well. We are just about to that point. The problem
is that there always seems to be some change that screws something up. I
would also like to here from anyone else out there and their experince with
creating drawings to the 100% point. Are dimensions the biggest problem?
They sure are for me. The old 80/20 rule seems about right (that you spend
80% of your time getting the last 20% of the drawing automated. com to
think of it I'm not sure that it isn't or shouldn't be 90/10. See! there I
go thinking on the fly as well.

To some extent. When I was an Aerospace Engineer (still am I think <g>) we
did "a lot of glue" with AutoCAD, FEM programs, fluid analysis, etc.
That's how I became "sucked into" this market. Our products BlockSOLID &
FAC-MAN aren't drawing automation in the way of a parametric design program
is, but I'd like to think of BlockSOLID as a design automation program (if
not drawing).

As I mentioned in my last mail, we have (hopefully !) addressed your
problem with AME R2. At this point, I am unable to discuss, more in
details.
So, instead of writting Solids off, I would wait for sometime, till we can
discuss more in details the features of AME R2, which will solve your
problem.
For all those, who are impatient to know more about AME R2 features, it
will be announced soon ( no dates, please !)
