LaserJet/LaserLine
5 messages in this thread
Roger, I purchased a LaserJet series II for use with my Amiga just
a couple weeks ago. I love it! With everything else I looked at I was
told "It's just as good as a LaserJet!" Unfortunately everything else was
about $1K more. I had no problem whatsoever interfacing with Ami.
Preferences has a couple of LaserJet printer drivers. I think I'm using
the one called simply "LaserJet". It worked from the start with
WordPerfect (I also selected their "Laserjet II" printer driver, of course)
and I've printed graphics from DPaint II and TV*TEXT. The thing even works
with my old Franklin Ace 1000 (Apple II+ compatible)! The graphics take a
while to print. I understand that if you plan to do a lot of graphics
printing it's best to get a printer with expanded memory. My primary use
is for fast letter-quality printing and the LJ does that very, very well.
No problem with envelopes or my custom stationary. If you're interested in
checking out other brands I recommend you look into Microsearch here on
CIS. It'll be easy if you're at all familiar with IQUEST. And it's
relatively inexpensive. Let me know if I can be of any further help.
Thanks for the tip on Microsearch. No, I've never used IQuest, but I've read
a lot about it in Online Today.
I bought the LJII last week and am very satisfied with it.
Congrats! I may have forgotten to mention the HP forum (GO HP) here on
CIS, too. They have some softfonts in one of the DLs, but I'm not sure if
they can be downloaded to the HP thru the Amiga — Might be usable only in
some sort of IBM format Let me know if you try it and how it works.
