All they have to do is use Designer 3D (which is on the VideoScape disk) to go from ROT to VideoScape. D3D is basically ROT with some changes and support for V3D.

But doesn't ROT only load and save files of its own type? This person wanted to convert VideoScape objects (in this case, from the Syndesis Object Disk) to ROT format, so they could edit them, and then save out in VideoScape format. With an InterChange ROT module, people could convert VideoScape to ROT.

Yep, ROT only deals with ROT files. D3D deals with ROT files (input/output) and V3D files (output). So having interchange deal with V3D to ROT is a good (great) idea. I also think you should consider interchange between various computers (AutoCAD objects etc…) There is considerable $$$ to be made in doing a DXF or IGES translator for V3D and Draw Plus, I know alot of our customers would purchase that kind of product. Good luck.

The AutoCAD module for InterChange (both directions to and from DXF, pre-Release 9 and Release 9 supported) is in beta test. I've ported some gorgeous objects already, the Amiga and InterChange puts AutoShade to shame. I've had more than four calls into Steve Akrich to talk about this and to get betas of VideoScape 2.0, with no luck. Would you like to talk about a DXF translator for Draw Plus? I think it could be done, I've actually written code for reading Draw parts and drawing files, but cannot proceed without more solid information about CAD users on the Amiga. I have a gut feel that there aren't that many serious users. I've also been talking with an architect who has Draw parts libraries for drawing houses, but again, without better estimates on how many I can sell, I can't invest the money or time to do it. I'm thinking about IGES, too, and will be getting the spec on it next week. (BTW, I tracked down the guy in Redondo Beach who had asked you about a DXF to Draw translator a long time ago. Trust me, he wasn't even close to having it working.)
