SNDSCAPE MIDI CLOCK FIX
5 messages in this thread
You can buy Utilities 1 and not Utilities 2? (Is this a trick question?)
Is it a trick question? I was thumbing through the discount software
pages of a magazine, one place was advertising SoundScape Utilities 1 and a
different place was advertising Utilities 2? Neither had both. Are they
supposed to be packaged together? Which utilities are on which disks? Now
I'm more than just a _little_ confused.
They are two different disks and are not packaged together. Mimetics has
been advertising both of them since last June, although I just found U1 at
my dealer about 1.5 months ago. I have yet to see U2.
The list of programs for U1 is – Mouse Bender, Mapper/Splitter, Clock
Scaler, Frame Counter, Fuel Gauge, Smooth Clocker, System X and Install
Modules.
The list of programs for U2 is – Beats/Measures, Velocity Blender, Viewer,
Scope, Echo, FastTracker, Slicer and Install Modules.
I have U1 and have been looking (in vain) for U2. The reality is that U1 also
contains a version of Fast Tracker, which is delivered PD and as-is.
Apparently "M" has decided that Fast Tracker is not worth the trouble it
would be to support it as a paid program, so they just included it. Their
"Mimentos" publication says that Install Modules and Smooth Clocker are
placed in PD by Mimetics, but, the docs with U1 say that they are not. Your
guess is as good as mine as to their real status, but, I wouldn't want to be
the one to post either one as PD and test it!
I am generally pleased with U1 and especially with Smooth Clocker. That
program and Mapper/Splitter make the U1 disk worth the money to me. (The list
prices on each disk are $49.95, but, can be purchased for about $40.)
Mimetics also list several other disks in Mimentos as being available,
although I have never seen them. Librarians 1 (DX/TX, FB01 & CZ-101),
PatternSplatter, Quantize, GeoMusic, 3-D SoundSynth, Emul-8, DX/TX Editor,
and FB01 Editor.
Hope that helps. If you have any questions about U1 programs, I'd be glad to
try to help. As to the 'vaporware,' your guess is as good as mine!
