This program is shaping up into a real handy utilitiy. Maybe it should have
a shrinkable window ala SatisFACCtion or NAG and sit on WB.
As for the board, I think I'll pick up the HP optional parallel board. I
have immediate needs for only one other computer. Besides, I like getting
original equipment, especially for my higher end gear. Stuff seems to last
longer. Hmmmm…
Roger, it sure is growing. But all the options it now has have made it
more complicated to set up. Once that is done it is very easy to use. I
really appreciate your input and hope you will like the next version. Us
LaserJet owners are very rare in the Amiga community. Khalid. P.S. what
do you think about totally getting rid of the idea of wide print vs. double
pages, and just specify how many pages you would like to have, e.g.
1,2,…, even 10, for those 10-character per line files. (I have quite a
few of those (grin)).
Absolutely. But, there could be buttons for 1/2/3 pages per page, plus a
string gadget where you could enter up to, say, 10. That's a good idea. I'm
working hard at getting downloaded fonts at the click of an icon and I'm very
close. Will keep you posted.
Roger, if you like, I could write a routine that will download a font just by
clicking on the font's icon. This shouldn't take more than half an hour to
do. Actually, I have already got the font download routine incorporated in
my program, but I could make it a separate one. This would be better than
just using a copy to PAR: or whatever since it checks which port is selected
from preferences. BTW, what kinds of softfonts have you got already? I only
downloaded one file with 3 fonts from the HP forum. Seeing a hex dump of the
file really helped me understand how to download fonts to the printer
directly.

to be downloaded, along with a WB icon. That way, each font could get a
different font ID, allowing several to be downloaded simultaneously.

If you're thinking of havine a shrinking window, think of using Tiny
Window Manager published by Transactor for the Amiga. It should reduce the
clutter on the WB screen.
