Joe, The size of the acad.pgp file did not seem to be the problem. It seems that when acad is accessed from certian directories the sh command is not found. Program response "unknown command". I tried moving a drawing file out of the problem directory into a new directory and then calling acad from the new directory. Upon doing this the shell command responded as expected. This is a "fix" but I really don't know why. Thanks for your response. Denis

Dennis, look for unexpected occurrences of the ACAD.PGP file (particularly in the diretory where you are having this problem). Use the FILES command to check if this file is in the current directory. Anil

Denis, It's not the size of the ACAD.PGP file I was referring to but the allotted shell size of the SH command. For any of the commands in the ACAD.PGP file to work, this file has to be in the path or it's location has to be known to ACAD. Are you doing these directory changes before or after you enter the drawing editor ????
