Re Ventura… I still have publications for which Ventura has never been able to build TOCs and Indexes. For over a year Xerox tells me they're sending a 'patch disk', but I've never received one. Now I get a 'deal' whereby this same support is available for $150/year (or so). Terrific! Anyone else have the indec/toc problem?? …doug (new to this forum)

On the problem you are having with VP building TOCs and Indexes, is it because there are too many entries? I'm just curious because I will soon be creating a large document which should contain an index and TOC. What kind of problems should I expect to have? Thanks. Bryan

Bryan — How large is your document? We have done manuals as large as 300 pages with no size-related problems on toc or index. Eli

I really don't know what the problem is. My documents are 100-page manuals made up of roughly 10-12 chapters. The index is about 3-4 pages (single column). As I build the index, I get MANY instances of the famous 'sorry' box from ventura. If I keep clicking through the 'sorry' boxes (sometimes 30 or 40 of 'em in a large chapter), the index is eventually build, but I don't know whether it's correct or not …doug
