HELP!!! I have recently purchased Ashade/Rman and I can't seem to make the
DOS extender work with DOS 5's XMS driver. This seems strange because
AutoCAD works with XMS memory. Is this accurate?

AutoCAD does not work with the XMS as provided by DOS 5.0 straight out of
the box. There are two things you can do. The first is to download
NEWDX.ZIP from the forum library 10 [Utilities] and run this on your
ASHADE.EXE and ACAD.EXE to upgrade the Phar Lap DOS extender to version 2.6
or you can remove HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.SYS and substitute QEMM386 or 386MAX
(both version 6.0) as your memory manager.
The reason for this is that the version 2.2 of the Phar Lap DOS Extender
that Autodesk is using is VCPI compliant where HIMEM.SYS creates DPMI
compliant memory (in other words MicroSoft created their own type of
expanded memory.)
