ASDG Product Status

Perry,
I hate to bother you again, but I was wondering if we could get another
'progress report' on the status of future ASDG products.
Thanks!

Roy,
No bother, which product would you like a progress report on? Of the
two announced but not yet shipping products we have (or don't have 🙂 the
SDP is undergoing some reevaluation and the 2000-and-1 is going full steam
ahead.
I'd be happy to give more detailed answers to any specific questions you
have.
Regards,
Perry
Perry, do you have any idea what you're going to be charging for the
2000-and-1? Seems to me that you'll need to get it down in the $400 retail
range before anyone will buy it.
Jon, 400 dollars retail would not make it possible to sell a product
such as the 2000-and-1 whose parts cost is driven quite high by low
production volume, insistance on high quality, and many custom mach-
ined parts. Also, considering what you get, $400 is not at all a re-
alistic price. In fact, using the industry standard markup the power
supply ALONE might come to $400 retail list.
While I certainly DON'T mean anything negative by this, if the most
you'd pay for a 2000-and-1 type product is $400 then I guess the
2000-and-1 isn't what you want but rather something less.
Recall that the 2000-and-1 has 12 slots, three hard drive bays, con-
siderable amounts of logic on a motherboard, a 200 watt power supply
not to mention a lot of bucks invested in filtration of things like
your mouse ports, the ability to run your Amiga floppy cable inside,
and a lot of other stuff. The 2000-and-1 therefore is intended from
the start for persons serious about their expansion.

Perry,
> SDP is undergoing some reevaluation
Does that mean reconsideration of bring it to market?
Don
Perry,
Specifically what stage of development is the 2000-in-1 in as of now.
According to a previous time table it should have passed through proto-type
phase and now be somewhere in gearing up production models. What's its
ETA???
