HELP
I AM HAVING A PROBLEM AFTER EXITING AUTOCAD AND ENTERING
ANOTHER PROGRAM (IBM TOPVIEW). THE DISPLAY CHANGES TO BLACK
AND WHITE, 40 CHACTER DISPLAY.
THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN IF AUTOCAD IS NOT LOADED.
I AM USING THE HDILOAD.EXE PROGRAM IN MY AUTOEXEC BATCH FILE.
IT SEEMS AUTOCAD IS THE CULPRIT OF THE PROBLEM.

We have experienced some 8514 display problems in that fashion.
Here are some work arounds.
1) Make sure ANSI.SYS is being loaded in the CONFIG.SYS
2) Type MODE CO80 after you Exit AutoCAD. (or even when you shell)
We are working on this.

I put "MODE CO80" in my batch file that calls ACAD and the problem went away.
thanks Jamie. Also, I asked you about Windows '386 on the conference Wed. (a
power outage knocked me off early). I checked my installation on Thu. and
found that in my haste I had not properly installed it. That corrected, I
tried to run ACAD and WordPerfect, again from batch files, and found that I
don't have enough memory to run either. My MIS people forced me to take a
system with only 1M of RAM, and w/the price of RAM chips going up it'll be a
few months before I get more. I am getting in a ' '386-20 portable system
(spec. built, Award bios, Compaq compatible) with 2M in about a week and I'd
like to run Win386 on that. So If you can just find out whether or not ACAD
does run under Win386 it would save me a lot of frustration. Thanks. B.W.
Well the word is that you can get it to work in "exclusive" mode. I am not
sure if this is suitable to your installation, but at least it seems it can
be done.
It is not a "supported" environment but if you run into problems I will see
if I can get answers. The Tech that has the PS/2 with 386 windows is out till
Wednesday so my resources are some what limited..
