#DXF file format
5 messages in this thread
Is the .DXF file format specification public domain ? Is there
any information in the libraries ? Thank you.
Not yet. I would like to offer it on the forum. I have a few such requests
pending approval.
CompuServe wish list item, I guess.

Have you looked in the AutoCAD manuals? The .DXF format is documented
there! (Or it was… Is it the new manuals Jamie?)

Yes, it is in the ACAD manual. However there are many who want to use DXF
files for other systems and programs and they don't have ACAD. And Autosketch
customers don't (as yet) get that information with their software. It is a
request we get from time to time.
There are manuals that offer DXF information, such as customizing AutoCAD.
Jamie
Robert;
I got a listing of the .DXF file format by calling the AutoSketch hot-
line number. (Hope this doesn't get anyone at AutoDesk in trouble).
It's about 16 pages, and even includes some BASIC <groan> routines as
an example of how to access the .DXF file.
