Peter, what kind of net are the beasts on? ARCNet? Ethernet? Token Ring?
(gaack!) Ameristar has an Ethernet package for the 2000. NFS and all that.
Works well with DECNet and TCP/IP.
DECNet? As in Syndesis' DECNet implementation? Or does AmeriStar have one
too?
TCP/IP and DECNet will live happily on the same backbone. The AmeriStar
board runs TCP/IP, I believe. If you have that support suite on your DECNet
beastie, then they should talk.
Right….I was just wondering if you'd actually seen a implementation of
DECNet running with the AmeriStar board.
We're using Novell's Netware 2.12 with thin Ethernet. Maybe when (if?) we
upgrade to the version which supports Unix (or get the bridge set up to the
thick Ethernet on our VAX) I could drop in an Ameristar board. Right now
there's no way to talk to the Novell net from the Amiga.
Pete, FYI, The AmeriStar board has both thick and thin connectors on it.
You just change a jumper block on the board to select which one is active.
