Rick , I've been out of the forum for awhile. What is imagine? I've also
succeeded in transporting a complicated image from sculpt into turbo SV and
made the most amazing stereo animation. I need help on some of the choices
in the camera menu that pertain to stereo viewing ie x y z coodinates for
tracking etc.
Shalom, welcome back! Imagine is Impulse's forthcoming upgrade to Turbo
Silver. It will feature much the same rendering, with extremely powerful
new modeling and animation modules. Re: stereo settings, I'd suggest you
call the hotline, 'cause I've never done anything in stereo. I'm strictly
a video user.
Excuse me for barging in here, but this is my first time in this
section….did you say "upgrade to Turbo Silver"? That figures! I just
bought Turbo Silver this week and I now hear theres a major upgrade
immenent! This happens to me everytime I make a purchase. Is there an
upgrade policy for Turbo owners?
This reminds me of when I bought DigiView 3.0 and the next day they
announced DigiView Gold.
BTW, the manual I got with TS is not the small binder type, but is
bound with plastic spirals and it has a "warranty registration" sheet as
its first page, which says that I have to fill it out and send to Impulse
to be covered by warranty….however there are several loose sheets that
came with the package , each labled "warranty card". They looked like they
might have been photocopied. Which am I to send in to be registered as a
Turbo user? Also, the sheet in the manual asks for a serial # which is
supposedly on the disk label, but I can find none on my disk's label.
Aside from the above, I am having fun getting acquainted with TS.
According to the newsletter, Imagine is NOT an upgrade…it's a new
product. To quote: "LAST COMMENT…… Imagine is not a rework of an old
and tired piece of software, Imagine is new from the ground up. New
manual, New package and most of all new code. We have saved some of the
better features of Turbo but the rest of the package is meant to help you
become even more proficient with 3D Graphics. There have been upgrades in
the past to Turbo Silver, Imagine is not an upgrade, you will have to
relearn certain aspects of the software and there will be other features
that are completely new. Imagine is the next step in the evolution of
software design for Computer Graphics."
(sorry for the run on sentences, but that's the way it was in the
newsletter!) Current Turbo Silver owners can get the Imagine for $150,
according to the newsletter.
Steve, no need to apologize for Mike Halvorson's run-on sentences. He
likes 'em that way! –Rick
<teehee> Yes, I like Mike's chatty, entertaining style in his newsletter,
but his sentence construction and spelling errors unfortunately compromise
this heavily. I have to reread sentences to figure out what he meant. Any
chance of him passing his completed works past an editor (person) of some
type? It's a shame to go through all that work just to have it messed up by
simple punctuation problems. Oh well. I get a kick out of 'em anyway.
Is that who writes the newsletter? I always wondered about that!
Thanks for the reply. I have ambiguous feelings about the part of the
newsletter you quoted which says, "Imagine is not a rework of an old and
tired piece of software…" Does this mean I have just purchased an "old
and tire piece of software"? <grin>
Hehehe…I knew you'd pick up on that. I wouldn't call Turbo a tired
piece of software. It's really a great program!
Don't worry about the serial number, Nick. Send the warranty card from
your manual. Imagine is a new product, not an upgrade to Turbo Silver.
However, Turbo users might want to buy Imagine and Impulse is planning on
offering an attractive price to registered users. Also, Impulse puts out
regular newsletters and object disks, so it's a good idea to be registered.
Good luck with TS. –Rick
Thanks for the reply. I will send in the warranty card right away, as I am
interested in the newsletter. In fact I would be interested in anything
that might shorten the learning curve for TS…. maybe I'll try the video.
I must admit learning the program is fun, though. Right now the gap is
rather wide between my previsualization of an image and what it actually
turns out to be after rendering.
