Well, I haven't been on in a while, but I work with Martin on a regular basis, mainly beta testing (as we are releasing our own products), and I care to make a comment since I HAVE followed this BS all the way. M2S was pretty Sh**** about the way they handled the distribution of M2Sprint. They were made an offer by Martin to purchase M2Sprint and refused. Instead they turned to PTI rather aware of the situation, and sold it. M2Sprint originated from the SAME 68000 compiler and was modified by Martin. Since Benchmark came from the same one also, and M2Sprint was MUCH better at code generation it made sense for AG software to want to get the code of its best (not always bigger) competitor. Now I have nothing againt Leon for going about an obviously shrewd move. If he could pick up the the compiler to make Benchmark a beq!8tter product than so be it. But, now that Martin's compiler is about to be released, through distribution, at a lower cost, with more stuff, producing better code, ( it is an optimizing compiler with a smart linker, plus of course Martin's clever ingenuity) Benchmark (and leon) will have to place a lot of money were their mouths are (forgive the plural tense, but no insults are intended). M2Sprint sadly created a lot of problems, yet you can be pretty damn sure that the last thing AG or PTI are going to do is offer an upgrade. That to me seems a shame. It's like taking over a company and raping it of all it has to offer. Please, no one take this as an insult, it isn't intended as such, I understand that business is business and ~rall is fair. The next few months will show if Benchmark's only competition is a 'c' compiler. If this were the MS-DOS world, Benchmark would sadly not be very strong. Rob ?
