Just a couple of things…
I think that you may be able to find (if you really want one) an expansion
chassis that will accomodate extra PC boards. I've heard of such things.
Put one card in a Amiga PC slot and connect it via a cable to a board in
the expansion system. Of course, I've never seen such beasts…
The other thing… The 68040 is not yet production ready. They are still
working out the bugs. I have that on good authority from a couple of
sources.

The expansion chassis for IBM PC's are available, but not cheap. For the
price of an IBM expansion chassis (PC or AT) you could probably get a PC
Turbo XT mail order with 640K , CGA and a floppy drive. Add to that the
price of a bridgeboard, and you might as well get an AT with harddrive.
That's what I did :-} (I still use my Amiga more, but require the
compatibility for work)
Your desk must be bigger than mine. I need the bridgeboard 'cause I can't
fit another machine on my desk!

Try buying an adjustible floor stand for each one, and turn them into two
towers. The only problem is getting the 9 pin extension cords for the
Amiga mouse and joystick ports, and of course the keyboard (I forget where
I got mine, but they are available) then you have two monitors and two
keyboards on your desk. It's an odd setup, but I happen to like it. I did
have two desks (That Oscar Meyer press board furniture, or whatever its
called) 1 Amiga and 1 AT. That was probably better, and the desks with the
hutch run about $90. But a friend needed the desk for something
Expansion boxes do exist but its been suggested to me that they are an iffy
proposition.
And if they couldn't use the 040, they could have gone for a 25mhz 030 as
the bottom of the line, and have 33 and even 50 above that.

I got a reply on the expansion box idea. Apparently they are not cheap.
As for the clock speed on the 040… I think that it gives C= some room to
grow. Still, I know how greedy I am for speed. I'd like to see the Amiga
blow past the Mac so fast that it makes their floppies wobble.

Ron, seems to me you're just Commodore Bashing…
Really, you want that stuff, some of it is available to soup up your 2000
at 33 Mhz and above… Go for it.

Just not for the 3000; it seems silly that a 2000 could be faster then the
3000.

I don't happen to feel that it is too silly since it is always easier to
re-engineer an accelerator board than to re-engineer a whole machine. I
wonder what the lead time differences are?
True, I would love for C= to have come out with a Mac IIfx killer off
the bat, but, at the price, I don't really care. I wonder how fast a tower
design would/could be?
