#CMC RESEARCH/DAK CD-ROM

Terry,
I believe that the CDU-6201 is not MPC compatible. If it's the drive I
think it is (an older verison of the current CDU-6205), it has only an 8KB
buffer (v. 64KB, which I think is needed to run Multimedia properly).
You can call Sony to confirm this: 408/432-0190 703/620-1300 617/630-8811
Good luck,
rl
Do you happen to know what the brand of CD-ROM drive is that DAK sells with
its machines? I have the DAK machine with internal CD and am curious what
I have to do to make it an MPC compatible system…IF ANYTHING? I have a
Thunderboard. Maybe all I need are the Windows extensions? Whatever
those are and however one gets them separately.

Jim,
Sorry, I do not have any info on the DAK drives, although I suspect their
tech support line could provide you with that info.
I'm told that Windows 3.1 has the Multimedia extensions in place.

Jim,
The DAK drives are Sony.

All read the file in library keyword: dak. There's a new drive out at Dak.
I just ordered the 380 millisecond BSR drive from them also. There bundles
are outstanding. If anyone wants info. on Dak, I'll be glad to try and
help. Thanks
Kevin
Thanks! DAK=Sony.
