The Silicon Graphics Expo, the first computer technical conference and trade show dedicated exclusively to Silicon Graphics Technology, will be held at the Santa Clara, California, Convention Center April 12-14. More than 100 companies will be at the event to demonstrate the latest in visual computing, including three-dimensional applications and virtual reality, an interactive computing technology that simulates reality. Silicon Graphics will take center stage displaying its latest products and technology in a newly designed exhibition booth. On display will be one of the industry's broadest range of binary compatible workstations and servers. The IRIS 4D(TM) line consists of three fundamental product families: IRIS Indigo(TM) RISC personal computers, IRIS Crimson (TM) high-performance deskside systems, and IRIS POWER Series (TM) graphics supercomputers and servers. Edward McCracken, Silicon Graphics president and chief executive officer, will deliver the first keynote address on April 13. His speech is entitled "Benefiting from the Visual Computing Decade." The second keynote will be delivered by Dann Bowley, vice president of digital production for Sony Pictures. Bowley will discuss how Hollywood production companies are increasingly using visual computing systems for every phase of film and television production. Silicon Graphics Expo will feature tracks of 50-minute technical presentations from Silicon Graphics, IRIS Partners and company executives in addition to seven daylong tutorials taught by Silicon Graphics staff members.
