OK Hopefully some or all of these questions can be answered by the bright
sparks!!! 1) How do I EASILY & CHEAPLY convert the a1000 into 1 MEG CHIP!
without
having to resort to rejuvinator etc.
2) How do I install a realtime clock on the a1000, I have the clock from an
old a500 expansion and want to cross it over to my a1000 internally as i
have a HD on the expansion!
3) If I backup my HD and then format it from the prep state it is currently
inin from factory fittings, will I gain more disk space!?!?!?
4) Assembler Freaks: I have a intuition menu that also carries a scroller
, to do this scroller I have setup my own dummy bitmap pointer through
the screens rastport so that the scrollraster wont scroll all the bit-
planes only the ones I want it to! but yet if I press shift rapidly the
scroller jerks momentarily! WHY! please include some solution!

If you add up the cost of #1 (1 meg chip ram) & #2 (clock, and for the sake
of argument, more internal memory) you will be looking at $300.
For an additional $150, you can add a rejuvenator and have a nearly up to
date machine (sans accelerator).
Barring that, an Insider 1 meg board for about $200 will give you an
additional one meg of memory and an internal clock.
If all you really want is a clock, your best bet is to either post messages
on as many BBS's as possible requesting an old A-Time, or just looking at
your watch once in awhile 😉

Thanks Michael ok all said, where are the best places including telephone
numbers to get the rejuvinator? Is this the Best/Compatible Board there
is. And Is it compatible with a GVP 52MB HardDisk with 2MB Fast? I presume
If I do opt for this it has its own built in clock plus even more memory
but what memory chips does it use and can i get the board unpopulated as I
can get certain ram chips pretty darn cheep! Thanks for such a quick reply!

Greg Tibbs, it's creator, is rather involved with this dealer (they may eve
be the ones who actually produce it). I don't have the # handy. Check AW…
they usually advertise.
If I can find all the specs on the board, I'll send them to you.
It should work just fine with any GVP hard drive you throw at it.

The AGNUS chip in your A1000 is not pin compatible (or even the
same type of chip) as the 1 Meg AGNUS or 2 meg AGNUS that is in the other
machines so there's no easy or cheap way to install the 1 Meg AGNUS in your
macine.
You might be able to install one of those "no slot clocks" that are
sold for MS-DOS machines and then write your own software to read it.
That's the key, finding the address of the clock chip, and being able to
read/write it.
I'm not sure what you mean by "factory fittings" or "prep state".
If you mean can you override the low level format (or re-do it) to achieve
more sectors per track…or more cylinders…essentially the answer is no.
While I've seen people push a cylinder to two beyond what the manufacturer
says is there, that's about it…and usually it's not reliable. It's
definately not reccomended.

Ok what I mean on the HD front is ! When I first got my HD it was already
preped (prepared). IT had on it wb1.3 and some other utils but what
confused me was that it stated having 52MB when the volume name of the
partition waswas {49MB} a loss off 3MB, Therefore I was wondering where the
hell this space had got to as wb1.3 CERTAINLY doesn't take 3MB! hope this
adds some insight! Thanks again Don

Well…1.3 and the Extras disk are close to 2 Meg and if they added
other software to it…they certainly could have pushed it up to 3 meg in
use. Also, if it was formatted under the Old File System you don't get a
full 512 bytes of data storage per disk sector…so you lose some there
also. If under the newer Fast FileSystem, you get the full 512 bytes of
data storage per sector.
