I have an A500 with an ICD AdIDE 52meg configuration. Tried to install 2.0 roms and software but the harddrive will not boot. Is there a fix for the AdIDE to make it 2.0 compatible or is it something I am doing wrong. -John-

It's pretty easy: boot with your 2.0 workbench disk, holding down the left mouse button to prevent the hard drive from mounting. Make a copy of the disk that came with the AdIDE. Delete the file from the root directory of the disk called "icddiskide.device". Run the program icd_formatter. Select the drive. Click on SAVE at the bottom of the screen. Click on EXIT. If done properly, this will not affect the data on the hard drive.

No go. I can't even get far enough for the floppy to boot. I notice that the grey screens do not even come up with the 2.0 rom installed. Is there a way to disable the AdIDE completely without removing it from the system so I can see if the 2.0 rom is broken? -John-

Holding down the left mouse button disables it, as does moving the kickstart (KS) jumper. Other than that you'll have to pull it out. Craig

Craig, I pulled out the KS jumper and was satisfied that the AdIDE was not a functional part of the system. Still could not even get to the point of using the floppy for boot. The dealer and warned me that this package had not worked in another system such as mine, i.e., one with and AdIDE drive system, and I could bring back the update package if it didn't work. I am of the opinion now, the ROM is blown. I'll see if he can get it to work in the store with another computer. Thanks for the help and speedy replys. BTW, is there a way to get a replacement manual for an ADRAM 540. Seem to have misplaced mine. -John-

Yes, replacement manuals are available from the sales department (or is that customer service?). Same number, anyway. 815-968-2228. Craig
