#Do I have ECS?

Hi,
I just purchased a 2000 and am curious about what's under the hood. The
box says it's Version 2.04. It also says it's "Amiga Release 2 + ECS."
Does the latter mean it is equipped with the "Super Denise" chip mentioned
in the Amiga press – the "8373 ECS Super Denise?" From my limited reading I
thought the Super Denise only came with the 3000. Is CBM putting the ECS
chip in units with Workbench 2.0?
(Pardon any errors above – I'm an MS-DOS convert just learning the wonders
of Amiga. Don't have the Amiga terminology down yet. But, what a
machine!)

If you bought the machine new, and it had those stickers on it, then it
has the chips in it. To be sure, look in the library here in AmigaUser and
do a "bro key:ECS lib:all". THere should be some program that will tell you
what chips you have. You can download SysInfo in Lib 15 (I think). Just bro
in lib 15, I think SysInfo has a new version which was recently uploaded.

If you look in your tools drawer there should be a program called
ShowConfig that will give some info on what chips are in your machine. Give
it a try.

The simplest way to check is to go into preferences and see if
you've got a 1280 x 400 screen mode available. I strongly suspect you
will. ECS Denise can be used in any of the current Amiga models.
