Is it possible to produce CD ROM's wwhich are part audio CD? I have in mind an application which is pretty much a database but would need to play music at appropriate moments. This could be achieved by calling a CD audio play function at appropriate moments. If it is possible to mix data in this way would playing an audio section suspend any other operation with the disk? Or are buffers big enough/drives fast enough for other data retrieval to be taking place at the same time? …………Ian

Mixing CD Audio with CD-ROM data is done frequently. We do it on almost all of our products and have extensive tools for same. Playing audio does preclude reading data until the play is finished stopped or paused. Send me E-mail or call Richard Smith at Software Mart, Inc. (512) 346-7887 if you are interested in the tools or have more questions.

Ian, We (NIMBUS) master "mixed-mode" discs alot. In fact, we were one of the first (if not THE first) to do it. If I can answer any questions for you, just call 1-800-782-0778 extension 412.
