#MSCDEX Docs
4 messages in this thread
I have a couple of CD-ROM drives, working fine, but I'm puzzled by the lack
of documentation on MSCDEX, the Microsoft CD-ROM Extensions.
In particular, what are the meaning of the /E/K/S/V arguments that are
generated by a "MSCDEX /?". I take /E to mean 'use expanded memory', but
I'm not sure of the others.
I've checked the IBM File Finder, the Microsoft forum libs, and the
Microsoft download service, to no avail. Can anyone here provide the key
to these arguments?
Gary, everything you've asked for is available in file laser3.txt in lib #4
here. Enjoy! Kevin–
Thanks, Kevin,
I spotted the LASER3.TXT file about an hour after posting my "help"
message.
The amazing thing as that Microsoft does not make this info easily
available, nor do their vendors of MSCDEX. And even IBM File Finder has no
reference to the current Lib entry here.
Important info. Thanks for your pointer.
Gary
The /E means to load MSCDEX buffers in Expanded Memory; /K is fo Kanji
character set; /S is to make MSCDEX sharable over MS-NET LANs; /V is
verbose (give detailed info about how MSCDEX loaded in RAM).
