We're having a problem when connecting our camcorder to INPUT 1 of our
Video Toaster. The live-video input causes two horizontal lines across the
picture, and distorts colors above & below those lines. When we turn off
the camcorder, the effect vanishes.
These two horizontal lines are also visible on the Toaster Switcher
screen.
Specs: Amiga 2000; 6 MB Supra expansion RAM; 45 M Seagate harddrive
with IVS Trumpcard controller; Camcorder Panasonic PV610.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you make sure that the camcorder was on and outputting a video signal
BEFORE booting toaster? If not, that would explain your problem.

We've tried starting up the Toaster with the camcorder on and outputting a
video signal…we get the message VIDEO TOASTER NOT RESPONDING.
We also tried inputting different cable TV channels directly from a
VCR; that also gave us the two horizontal lines, distorted color, and
message VIDEO TOASTER NOT RESPONDING.
Question: Is this what we should expect from using sources that are not
clean enough for the Toaster? Or is there some other problem?

It may be that you need to adjust the sync between video and computer using
the air capacitor screw on the Toaster. Call tech support, and they can
guide you in adjusting til the picture stops tearing.
Thanks very much! The air capacitor screw was exactly what we needed to
adjust; Tech Support was very helpful and our Toaster is working fine now.

Don, it sounds like you should get in touch with Newtek Tech support for
this one. There seems to be a problem with the hardware if you can't use a
live camera feed to start the beasty up!
