Which translator are you working with?

The program is called TDDDconv. It converts 3D objects in the binary TDDD format into either OFF, NFF, Rayshade, or vort format. There is also a Postscript object viewer. I grabbed it off of one of out UNIX mirror sites. At first glance it looks interesting. Have to wait for R2 so I can suck some geometry in. Should be interesting. LAM

I thought you had said there was an Amiga-based program that could read or write 3D Studio files. As far as I know, my company's product is the only one. At this time, we licensed our reading code to newTek for inclusion in the Video Toaster. The other day, I did an InterChange Converter for exporting the 3DSr2 .ASC ASCII format. It makes bulky files, but it works. Unless I'm missing something, the .ASC files only contain geometry and no surface information. What a shame! So, I'll someday complete this converter and make it write .3DS files and probably .MLI libraries. Until then, you could use our InterChange DXF Converter and move your Amiga files to DXF format, and then import that into 3D Studio. Or, export 3D Studio objects as DXF, and import them through our converter. Call (608) 455-1422 for more information.
