Paul, Thanks for the warning abount not needing setver in the autoexec. I just did what seemed to work. Now that I think about it what you say makes sense. Thanks, Phil

Hi, what's that thing about not needing setver to run mscdex? I couldn't get on with it without setver and I never got to load mscdex high although I tried (you can believe me). If there's any wiz about that can help me on both accounts please do. Thank you Peter

MSCDEX 2.21 (in the libs here now, I think) allegedly doesn't require SETVER. The other comment was about running the SETVER MSCDEX in AUTOEXEC, which is merely unnecessary (once you run it, then it puts the version in a file and your SETVER device statement picks it up).

Peter, check laser.txt in Lib #4; that should answer your question. Thanks for asking; it finally stimulated me to try and compile answers to a lot of common questions asked here on the subject, along with others realted to Sony LL, loading high, etc.

Peter, Apparently there is a new version of mscdex that doesn't need setver to run. I haven't tried it yet so I just know what I've seen by lurking. 😉 Phil

Hello, one and all, thanks for your support. I will check it all out in the next few days. Should anything out of the ordinary (which is a fine and superbly quick tuned machine, of course) happen, I will let you know. Hail to the Redskins Peter
