I just read in the Mastering Toaster Technology book that you folks make a program called ATALK III? It was recommended that this software be used for a direct connection between AMIGA and PC. Do you have any ideas what software will do the job on the PC end? What does your software sell for and will my local dealer have it? Thanks!

That software is now handled by New Horizons. I think you will find that its usefulness is limited compared to the other terminal programs out for the Amiga. My suggestion would be to look at JrComm, Term and maybe even Baud Bandit.

Supra has been bundling ATalk III along with GPFax in the SupraFaxModem packages.

If you need scripting language or connect to mainframes AtalkIII is useful. Tom

Too late…I got ATALK III. There are really no features needed other than a ZMODEM Download. JR-COMM may have worked but for 50 bucks I bought ATALK. Thanks for the response

Dear Kip, I am sorry but Oxxi no longer publishes ATalk. It is now published by Mew Horizons. Mike Uman

I use that program, in addition to JrComm. If you want to get onto PC based BBS, then the latter is easier to use. If you want to write automated scripts to collect Email on mainframes, or messages on BBS, or some such custom application AtalkIII can be interesting. If you are wanting to connect a PC and Amiga to exchange files the best program is Twin Express, file name "twinexpr1.lzh" it allows extensive file manipulation of either file system from either machine. If you want control your Amiga from a remote PC based machine via modem try "Sers22.lzh" in amigauser. Not clear what you want to do. Good luck Tom, Okie from Oklahoma

Thanks Tom. I ended up buying ATALK III. I am just doing simple null-modem serial transfers of TARGA files from the PC to the AMIGA. It works great and at 57,600 Baud. Thanks for the response.

You should still look into Twin Express, it will go just as fast and has a better to use interface for that purpose. Tom
