#Analyze! & 2.1
9 messages in this thread
I have been using a spreadsheet program called ANALYZE! by
Micro-systems Software for about three years. Never had many problems
with it. Last Week I installed Workbench 2.1 on my Amiga 2000 which has a
G-Force 040 card in it. All of a sudden the graph tool in the spreadsheet
does not work. It behaves like I never called the tool.
The phone number for Micro-systems is out of date and they are no
longer listed in Boca Raton FL as shown in the manual. Are they still in
business? Does anyone know what the instsallation of 2.1 would have done
to break the graph tool?

I just contacted them last month about upgrading Excellence! so I
pretty sure this address an phone is current.
I have also heard that they do have a fix for Analyze! so do give them
a call.
Congradulations of making the upgrade. It is far better than WB1.3
don't you think.
P.S. Someone might be mentioning this to you soon, so I might as well ask
ya first. The Amiga Forums have a FULL name policy here. We really
appreciate it when we have a first and last name for everyone.

I had a problem with Analyze! also, but under 3.0. It couldn't always
open the main window and would appear just not to run at all. I found a
solution in the ScreenMode prefs.. it seems that some of the new 2.1/3.0
screenmodes confuse it. Setting my screenmode to NTSC or Productivity
solved the problem.

This happened to me once. It turned out in my case that the graphs I had
designed, were defined when I had my WB size set up larger than normal and the
graph window (in the definition) was larger than the current screen. Analyze!,
instead of just truncating the window size simply refused to open the graph.
So, my suggestion is to go into your Screenmode prefs, set your WB size pretty
large, re-run Analyze! and try to open your graph. I hope this works for you!
Kevin, thanks for the tip. When I installed WB2.1, I made the screen
size a little smaller and the graphs which were over on the right side did
not open up. Everything works fine now that I made the screen wider.
I don't have the current phone and address for Micro-Systems Software.
Is there a newer version of ANALYZE! than 2.1?
Thanks again

Not that I know of…I have been keeping my eyes open, but it looks like 2.10
was it. Fortunately, it still seems to work well even under 2.04, 2.1, etc.
except for the weird PRINT to printer option. It only works on "odd-numbered"
tries for me, but that's trivial since you can just reselect the option and it
works. Go figure! I've gotten in the habit of just outputting to files
anyway…
Glad to hear the tip worked for you!

Sometime in the hazy past (I don't remember when but it was before I
upgraded to DOS 2.04) I got an upgrade to Analyze! v2.11 from MSS.
(As always, the trick was finding out that they HAD a maintenance
version — then you could ususally get them to send it for a nominal
fee.) I'm still using it under 2.04 with no major problems (for lack
of a IMHO better Amiga spreadsheet) but sure hope that the
"soon-to-be-released" spreadsheet by the mystery 🙂 developer will
bring the Amiga spreadsheet state-of-the-art up closer to modern
spreadsheet features and capabilities!!!

This info is from a recently purchased copy of Excellence! so the
address and phone number should be current.
