To All:
I have some SIMM's they are made by Siemens and are marked on the front of
each chip HYB511000BJ-70 and on the back of the module HYM91000s-70
NS9136. Each simm consists of nine chips.
I realise that they are rated at 70ns but would like to confirm that they
are 1MB simms.
They belong to a friend and we installed on to a NEXUS card, configured as
8MB. The board only has space four four simms, this would make each simm
either 2MB (which are not availble) or the company that sold her the board
a bunch of crooks, as I doubt that they are 4MB.

they are 1×1 chips…8 to the SIMM, 1×8 SIMM's, 9, 1X9 SIMM's
each simm = 1mb
OK just found 91000 in the IC master…they are 1×9 SIMM's (8 chips
memory, 1 chip parity)

I am considering adding memory to my stock A4000 in the hopes of speeding
Caligari 24's rendering ability.
a. Is this a good/bad time to do this considering current chip prices?
b. What is a reasonable tariff for a 4 Meg SIMM(?) chipset?
c. Any sources to recommend?

I just (2 weeks ago) added 4M to my 4000 — cost was $119.

Are you at liberty to divulge where you purchased it? At roughly $30 a meg,
I would advise myself to buy now before Mr. Clinton finds out. 😎 The last
time I bought memory was a few years ago when I added to my GVP A3001. I'm
pretty sure I 'stole' it at $90 per meg. Sometime after that, I recall the
magazines complain that chip prices were going up!!
BTW, if revealing your source is bad form under the circumstances, can you
say if this is _about_ the price I should expect to pay? Thanks.

I got it from my dealer. Since he sells me stuff at a bit over cost I'd
suspect that you should be able to find it for about $135.
Steve, you've had it (the 4000) for a while now – what do you think? Good?
Bad? Indifferent? etc… I'm really curious. EMAIL's ok for an answer, if
you like.

The '040's fast. AGA is was necessary (the reason why I got the 4000 to begin
with). Overall, I much prefer my 3000.
