What's a good program for the Amiga that one can do a document or a manual
with. One that not only does word processing and graphics but will also
automatically create it's own Table of Contents and Index.

WordPerfect or excellence! will, and I think Wordsworth does, too. (I
assume you're talking about an 8.5 x 11 manual with no DTP process.) I'd
check out Wordsworth. The new version has gotten some good reviews in the
American publications and the Brits are crazy about it. It certainly
sounded good.
If you're going to go for a 8.5 x 5.5 manual, you should remember that
PageStream won't do two up as yet. That won't matter though, if you're
only doing camera ready pages.
If you have a Bridgeboard, you can do the whole thing in WP5.2 for
Windows. There's even a shareware macro available to lay the pages out
automatically after you get them typed.
