#7th guest

In some messages here the CD 7th guest was mentioned. Some people seemed to be
very exited when thinkin of this CD.
Who can tell me what this CD is about?
Regards, Marcus
7th Guest promises to be the greatest computer game ever written for the PC (if
you believe all the hype)
It is a murder mystery game, where you walk through a virtual world unlike
anything ever tried on a PC. Each room in the mansion (where the murder takes
place) is almost photo-realistic in graphic quality, with quality digitized
sound to match. The game takes up TWO cd-rom disks, amounting to over 1
gigabyte of graphic and sound data!
Requires SVGA (standard vga won't cut it). Your CD-ROM drive needs 150 kb/sec
data transfer rate. Don't worry too much about the seek time…its the data
transfer rate that is important. I don't know if it requires a sound card
(maybe the sound comes out of the headphone jack, like in the Lucasarts game,
LOOM)
Now the question is, "When does it ship????" Well, anyone know ??
Eric
I thought it was supposed to ship the 15th of this month, but apparently it did
not. What happened to the dealers that stated online that they already had
copies?
I recall hearing that Virgin Software's 7th Guest is supposed to user the
DIGPAK/MIDPAK sound drivers, which support lots of different sound cards (even
my fancy Turtle Beach MultiSound). More info on these drivers can be had from
the author, John W. Ratcliff [70253,3237]. He hangs out in MULTIVEN as I
recall, and there is a (760K!) downloadable demo of his stuff both on CI$ and
John's BBS.
As for availability, I'm currently on a business trip in London, and I stopped
by the Virgin Megastore in Oxford Street yesterday and couldn't find a copy.

According to a message I saw posted from Virgin in another online service, The
7th Guest has just shipped!!

7th Guest is the a Smash hit for CD, we (CD Rom User Group UK) managed to get
hold of a beta test version of the first disk…. We expected it to be good and
we were gob-smacked, it is excellent and will be the one everyone wil have in
their collection.
We spoke to the Marketing Director (Virgin Games) at the ECTS show in London,
we quizzed him about the release date and he hopped from foot to foot and said
May. How firm is this?? – we asked. The answer! – Lets put it like this its set
in blancmange – so it will be released sometime. Although Westpoint Creative in
the UK in the past few days led us to believe 29th April.. Well if Westpoint
are right Ill eat my hat and buy 100000 copies.
The other HOT CD product has to be DUNE, this is incredible (We managed to get
a Beta release of that too) yup the standards will soon be set and put an end
to putting floopy games on CD and calling it the CD version – Cheek!!
If anyone is interested in joining the CD Rom User Group (UK) then phone 0424
730326 – 24hrs or write to 19 Faygate Close, Bexhill, East Sussex. TN39 5EE -UK
membership is only 29.99 and that includes a FREE CD and more…
Cheers Graham
