Does anyone know if the Physicians Desk Reference (PDR) is available on CD-ROM?
I am working with several Blind medical transcriptionist who really need
access to the information. If the whole PDR is not available the indexes would
be very helpful. I would appreciate any leads. Thanks. Beth

The PDR in orint and on disc is published by Medical Economics at 201/358-7200,
201/573-4956 (fax). I think Franklin also makes it available in a dedicated
hand-held device.

It's also available in the Sony MMCD format. They (our sister company) have
covered all the bases!

Do you know what the current pricing situation is? When I last saw it, the
cost was $595, almost exactly ten times the cost in the bookstore (and about
$595 more than most docs pay for the book). This strategy never made much
sense to me.

P.S. They're distributing it in the Franklin Electronic Book System also.
Beth…I have seen the PDR CD listed in some of the mail order ads. Check some
of the computer mags. I think the price is around $500.

Beth, CDROM, Inc. has the PDR listed in their catalog for $575 by itself, $895
bundled with the Merc Manual. Call 1-800-821-5245 (voice) or 303-231-9581 for
a catalog.
Beth, my 1993 PDR (free) lists the PDR Library alone on CD-ROM for $395, or
$595 including the Merck Manual. Also, 1993 PDR Drug Interactions and side
effects diskettes with indications, on 3 1/2 and 5 1/4 for $225. However, I
don't think these are what you want. Just like the medical dictionaries and
spelling checkers for Winword & WordPerfect, etc, all the above including the
CD-ROM are, I believe, data only- no audio descriptions or spelling. Phil
