i've notified your message. thanks for answering. the thing about the
os/2-support………hmmmmmm…… i think it is a question of time. i mean
mitsumi is selling so much drives, they can't ignore the os/2-trend.

I've heard that the OS/2 drivers will be out in July. Hope it's true. Since
the beta 2.1 release I have came on CD-ROM, it was a real hassle to load the
disk images on to floppies rather than just install it from the CD. Add to
that, OS/2 won't recognize my "100% soundblaster compatible" ATI Stereo F/X.
This when all my buds who have cheap crap SB clones have no problems.

that's the kind of news, i like. if os/2 2.1 is out, i will buy it immediately.
about your prob's with the ati fx, i have no expirience with soundcards under
os/2…i only hope that creative distributes the right drivers for my sb 16 asp
to the right time.

I have a problem with my Mitsumi CD-Rom drive. I had to install it on DMA
channel 6 instead of 5 because of my Ultrastore Controler Card but after many
hours of playing "autoconfig leap frog" it finally worked ok.
Then, I installed both CD Player and CD Trakker 1.5. They both worked ok too.
On a whim I tried to read a music cd, which of course was impossible. After
that read attempt I could not read another CD, except for the playing of music.
Everytime I tried to do just a DIR I would get:
CDR103: CDROM NOT HIGH SIERRA OR ISO 9660 FORMAT READING DRIVE E:
I tried everything including relaoding the CD drivers. I'm using MSCDEX.EXE
VER 2.22, which I got from here. I am so $%#$%@# tired of incompatibil-
ities. I even called California and spoke to someone there who didn't speak
English very well. All he told me to do was reload the software, I think. I
tried different CDs, MG! I was able to read the CDs on other systems that I
couldn't read on the Mitsumi.
It appears that the loading of one of those music players (CD Player or CD
Trakker 1.5) contains the missing factor. I also had to load into the Windows
system director VBRUN001.DLL (or some name like that). I have no idea where to
go from here.
Any help will be greatly apreciated. Dennis
VBRUN001.DLL sounds like a Visual Basic DLL. I don't know whether that is
re-distributable w/o run-time. If it is, I may have a copy lying around.

Thanks, but I already have vbrun200.DLL and that's what I thought was causing
my problem. The Mitsumi worked fine until I installed CD Player which needed
Visual Basic.
However, today I called a tech support # in Minnesota. The person there asked
me what processor I had (386-40) and then what chipset. When he heard it was
the Symphony Chipset he said I had to change the DMA access switch in the
config.sys from T:6 (5 was being used by my Ultrastore Bus Mastering Controller
) to T:S. Apparently the Symphony chipset is a good fast one, too fast for the
Mitsumi interface card.
He said it would slow things down a bit but I could increase the M: from 20 to
64 and add the expanded memory option. That's all I need. That would put me
at around 460k of main memory, not enough to run lots of programs. I think I
need a memory manager because I have 8 meg in the machine.
I wonder if I'm not better off returning the Mitsumi and getting the Toshiba
and hooking it up to the Ultrastore. For only an addition $200 I may be
getting 6 times the throughput.

panel
