The government sure takes the rewards out being successful. We've seen the
collapse of a major government based on the left's ideas. Governments in
general have not proved that they know how to run anything well. The best
governments develop a consensus and an understanding of balance between
opposite viewpoints. Unfortunately, America does not have a middle party based
on common sense. Having worked in social service I realized governments will
never have enough money to solve the problems of the human condition.

FWIW I don't think _any_ country has a political party based on common sense.
I guess I'm an anarchist at heart<g> as I believe in the less government the
better ie I vote for those who interfere least in my daily life. Not perfect,
but better than not voting at all and letting the others win by default<g>

Very few centrist parties command majorities; they just don't have the
fanatical followers and dedicated tops to take them there and keep them there.
Poll after poll indicates that the majority of British citizens agree more with
the Liberal Democrats on most issues, yet it has not and probably will not form
a government. The extremes control the system, the districting, etc. and
they've made certain third parties can't do it.
