I have Kickstart 2.04 and recently saw an ad for Kickstart 2.05. What is
the difference?

For MOST users, there aren't any differences between the 2.04 & 2.05
KickStart.
The 2.04 (v37.175) was the first official release.
The 2.05 (v38.350) is the latest revision, adding:
– support for the A600's PCMCIA card slot.
– support for the 68ec040 & 68lc040 CPUs (differences in timings)
– support for the A600's internal laptop-IDE interface.
If your a A2000 or A500 user, you need only the 2.04, unless you
purchase 68040 based accelerator that doesn't use the FULL 68040
but the "EC" or "LC" variants.

Sorry for jumping in here. I bought the upgrade kit a WOC with the 2.04
ROM and now I am told that I need to get the 2.05 ROM if I want to use the
new High Density floppies. I had been assured at the show that 2.04 would
run the HD floppies through a patch in the 2.04 Software. I have seen no
reference to High Density support in the Software documentation.

I don't the relationship of the 2.04 & 2.05 ROM to the CBM HiD floppy.
I do know that there is a bug in the 2.04's trackdisk.device that caused
problems when both file systems (DD & HiD) were being used, and that the
HiD had chained to a another HiD (not a normal DD) floppy — starting with
the HiD needing to be the first floppy (df0:).
The 2.05 may have fixed those bugs. The AmigaDOS-2.1 Setpatch does,
preform a "150RPM drive" patch, but I do not know if the patch differs
between 2.04 & 2.05 ROMs.
