MacWorks for the Amiga

Jez,
Sounds very interesting (and useable). I'll be waiting patiently for it in the
DLs. Two minor notes: 1) One of the fellows on here has an 80×25 set up
because he wants to use a status line… I expect he killed the menu bar. Are
you doing output to a screen or using a borderless window? 2) I'm not sure,
but I have a beta copy of AmigaBasic and it _SEEMS_ to bypass the console
output routines… there is NO ANSI response that I can find; doesn't even seem
to know what to do with a NULL.
Thanks for offering to share your labors with us!
Rick , I'm using AmigaDOS to open a Console window.. so it'll look like a
window opened by the screen editor: ED. Its sizeable, but is only a Simple
Refresh window, so data is lost when yu size it. I'm considering using
Intuition windows, but its a lot more work than using OS at DOS level! (A lot
more reading!) I'm a games programmer by trade, and so don't like having to
read OS manuals to find out how to do things. I prefer using 'Hardware chips'
directly, so I've only learnt the Hardware Manual to date. Havng to read the
ROM KERNEL manual seems a daunting task, (.. but someone's gotta do it..
hehe!!) — Jez.
All RIGHT! another hardware-level programmer! I love working at the bottom too!
Have you got all the custom registers figured out yet? I'm having a ball!

Rick, the 80*25 is quite easy to do. There is nothing stopping you from writing
over the ttle bar and borders, etc. The 'clear screen' in mine does a RectFill
from 0,0 to 640,200. The title bar and borders, being included in this range,
are set to BG colour. The CLOSE gadget as well as the PUSH/POP gadgets are
still there (at least their hot boxes are), and it's a simple matter to find
them with the pointer. The menu bar still comes up with the right mouse button
and acts normally. The only bad side effect is that after returning from CLI
after doing COPYs, etc., is that the top line of the terminal screen gets
trashed, first by the "ghosting", then by the title bar, which reappears when
you click to reactivate the terminal screen.
I'm kicking around an idea or two on ways to allow sizing. One idea was to do a
complete clear only when the window is at maximum, and to redraw the
border/titlebar when the window is sized down.
I've added an Options menu for duplex, word length, stop bits, etc., but have
to add the subitems. When that's done, I'll add a QUIT menu selection, and
perhaps a couple of characters in the menu strip to at least show the PUSH and
POP gadget locations when the right button is pressed.
I got a little stuck on the VT100 emulation, and will get back to it when I've
thought it out a little better.
