New A1200 Accelerator!

So? The majority of _3000_ owners don't have much — if anything — in
their ZIII slots. No real need — unless you run out of SCSI device ID's
(CD-ROM, 2 HDs, and tape drive so far, haven't run out yet), want to do
12- or 16- bit sound digitizing, or want to do serious video work.
If a 1200 user wants to do one of the latter 2 items, he's better off
getting a 4000 series machine anyway. It will cost less in the long run
than upgrading a 1200 to 4000-series capabilities.

I'm considering buying a 1200. But I know I'll want to add SCSI right away
(probably a clock/calendar, too). I'd like to know that, as funds become
available, I'll also be able to add an accelerator and a good deal more RAM
(neither of which I want to spend the money on yet). Sure, it would be nice to
just get a 4000, but it's a lot more money, and I don't need its capabilities
yet.
I guess I could be happy with just one board in my A1200… My ideal board
would give me a SCSI port, a clock/calendar, a 72-pin SIMM socket, and a
processor socket (or daughterboard attachment) into which I could later plug in
a fast 030 or 040. Any chance something like this is forthcoming from anyone?

The upcoming Viper1230 (why is it that practically every A1200 board is
being called the 1230 by its company) will have its own proprietary
expansion connector to which you can attach such products as it upcoming
SCSI-II controller, rumoured at $200 (to good to be true) and which will
have onboard an 030, an 882, and RAM. It may also have a clock/calenday,
I don't know for sure, but I think there's a $25 clock/calendar out there
for the A1200 that doesn't take up the slot anyway. As to the processor
on a daughtercard – great idea, not likely.
How about mentioning it in the User Letter? What an idea! (Well, maybe
not.)
