The fonts provided with Animator Pro Ver 1.3 almost all look very jagged with the exception of the CLEAN 8 and CLEAN 11 fonts but they are too small for most of my applications. I tried loading the font ALPS from the 3dStudio World Creating Toolkit and compared it to the FONTA.GIF file that was created by Autodesk displaying this font with others. The difference was very noticeable. I tried using the UNZAG and SMOOTH and SOFTEN functions in Animator Pro but that proved to be very unsatisfatory. When I change the screen resolution to 1024 * 768 the fonts look better but that is not a satisfactory fix and the contrast between the example provided in the FONTA.GIF file and the loaded font naturally remained the same. Do you have any suggestions? Finally, is there a new version of Animator Pro to be released in the near future? Thanks for your help.

<<I tried loading the font ALPS from the 3dStudio World Creating Toolkit and compared it to the FONTA.GIF file that was created by Autodesk displaying this font with others. I've found the only way to get acceptable results is to use PShop for the fonts and bring them into Animator Pro. I think that the fonts in Animator Pro are mostly unusable… I'm hoping that there will be an option in the future to allow anti aliased fonts in APro. Tom

The current version of AAP (1.3a) does render antialiased fonts. Nik Grant will be able to give you the details about it and how to get it. – G

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond

Thanks for responding. I realized that the fonts in the GIF file were created by 3d Studio and your solution to "import" the fonts from 3d Studio to Animator PRO is certainly a solution. However, this makes editing/changes very awkward in anything other than main titles. I have found that using unzag on a large bold font just OK but that does not work well in the smaller sizes as some of the thinner lines just disappear. Best wishes

AAPRO 1.3a is actually the international version. However you can get it by sending in the bug report at the back of the AAPRO installation manual. As the bug you are reporting, state you want the antialiased fonts and the ability to run in a DOS shell under Windows. Request to be sent 1.3a.

Cyrus, Have you tried reusing the text with soften ink? Many people try to apply soften to the entire image or with a box surrounding the text. That almost always produces an unacceptable result. After placing your text, make soften the active ink and then choose text/reuse and place the text right back in the same spot. This technique applies the soften ink only to the text and produces a decent antialiased effect. Of course, from now on my preference will be Gary's suggestion to upgrade to 1.3a wich does real antialiased text. Now where did I put that bug report form? Steven

"Now where did I put that bug report form?" The bug report forum is in the back of the Installation Guide. Nik

I'm a typographer by trade (20+ years) and I agree that Anipro's fonts are poor, to say the least. I've gotten around it by making .GIFs of type I create with Pixar Typestry. It works very well, and I can apply various materials and lighting to create the effects I want. I've also used Photoshop for type in Anipro, but sometimes that comes out blurry. Regards, Maura
