TO: THE FOLKS TRYING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
This is a list of items which I no longer need for my business. Some
were bought when I started producing graphics after university, others are
items which have been replaced by other equipment or programs, some are
software programs that do not want to run (that is, without alot of
trouble) on my A-4000.
1. DCTV unit with 2.0(?) revision software
2. Personal Single Frame Controler
3. ParBench 3.0 and "factory" ParNet cable
4. Pro-Page 3.0 (?)
5. Pro-Draw 4.0
6. Super-Jam (current version)
7. PowerPacker Pro
8. Super DJC – printer driver for DeskJet 500c
9. Can-Do 1.5
In addition, since all work and no play has a tendancy to make Jack or
Jill a raving lunitic, these games are also available;
10. Armor-Geddon – 3-D flight sim – complicated but very fun
11. OUT OF THIS WORLD – you'll tear up three joysticks trying to finish
this smooth playing game
12. Fighter Duel Pro/ Flight Recorder – This is tough to learn but WOW
what fun to play. It also lets you save your plane's flightpath as an
object motion for Lightwave (not sure about any other 3-D programs).
I would like for these to go to a someone who is starting out on their
own in the video or video graphics production business. It wasn't too
long ago that I was the one trying to afford equipment that would let me
break into the market and produce professional work. I'd like this stuff
to go to someone that could use it for a while untill they can afford the
real thing. Here are my requirements;
1. Receipient must be a United states citizen and resident, and live at
least 200 miles from my primary place of business (Pikeville, Kentucky).
2. Must have been a legaly recognised "for profit" business entity for
less than one year. Startups will be considered.
3. Please no Federal or State run, mandated or sponsored entities. This
includes any person receiving Federal or State grant monies.
Simply put I want this to go to a person or persons who want to break into
this business, be competitive, and needs some help.
No artists.
No non-profit groups.
No whiners.
Clear-enough?
1. A decision will be made on April 10th. You will have from now untill
April 9th to post a request (to this thread) for any of these items.
2. I will decide who gets what and will post my decisions by 10:00pm EST
on the 10th.
3. I will not accept private "C-Mail" requests for this equipment, because
I want the members of this forum to be able to read and respond to these
requests.
Please be sure that your posts are addressed to me and not to another
member since autopilot will not pick up your request otherwise. I think
this is an equitable and fair way to distribute this stuff and I hope it
helps someone get started…

Well, a friend and myself are trying to start a small production company while
we're in college to help pay for our education. While we would love a Toaster,
our funds would only permit a toaster of the SunBeam variety. Since most of
our work would be in animation (titles, short anims, overlays) we could use the
DCTV. We've been using Imagine 1.0 to model some ideas, but really don't have
a good way of pumping it to tape since we have neither a 24 bit board, nor a
single frame deck.
If you see fit to give the DCTV to someone else, we'll manage without it. I
intend to persevere independently, but I've also worked for enough companies to
know when not to overlook a helping hand.

Neil, I'll be interested (especially in DCTV). I'm a startup guy, doing some
entry level video work and of course Amiga fanatic. I use simple genlock A2300,
Video Director, 8mm and VHS format trying to push it to the limit. My dream is
the Toaster and non-linear system, but you know $$$.
So, here is my entry.
I live in Drexel Hill, PA – west side of Philadelphia. I'm trying to put
some stuff together at least to make a good demo tape and look around for some
work to buy real equipment. DCTV would be really neat – I could do morphing, it
has really cool paint program. OK. Cut the crap.
BTW, whould you be willing to offer some advise about low-cost editing suite
(format: Hi-8mm or S-VHS, what controllers use etc.)

Drexel Hill ? Are you a member of PAUG ? or the Toaster Users' Group ?
I have the name ofa company (dang, can never find stuff when you need it) I
think it's Hi-Tech, which sells used video equipment (professional variety).
Not all the prices are great, but they run specials, and you can get good deals
on refurbed equip.
I'll try to find the number, but you should be able to get their (800) number
from the (800) 555-1212 directory assistance. (I do believe it is called
Hi-tech)
Paul, Thanks for the tip (about Hi-Tech). I'll try it tomorrow. Yes, I WAS a
member of PAUG and a student at Drexel University were they have meetings. Now
I'm too busy to attend meetings so CIS and other BBSs keep me informed about
Amiga and the community.

Know very well what you mean by trying to afford startup equipment…it never
ends. I have assimilated a fair amount of DTV equipment including Toaster,
(2000/40mz/9mg/80HD), 2 S-VHS decks, 1 S-SVHS camera, 1 Panasonic WAVE5 board,
and a Syquest 44mg rem. media HD. Big drawback is in rendering single frame
anim to disk via REND24 as I constantly run out of space and poor quality
anims. Would be interested in any hardware/software that would enable me to
expedite this process in a professional manner. Simply don't have the monies to
acquire more equipment at this time as some equip is already financed.
A quick run-down on my business… I just recently returned to the Toaster/Mac
arena for production video work on the side as I took a corporate job two years
ago for financial stabilty in a new marriage. Well the marriage is over and I
am extremely anxious to return to my first love of DTV. My previous company
name was InfoAge Multimedia (in Nashville,TN) and was quite successful in the
corporate presentation/training market. I have acquired most of my old
machinery back from a friend who I helped start when I sold out at reasonable
prices due to his fantastic success in this business and his ability to upgrade
to the point of waiting on the Screamer for purchase.
For more info and/or tips I would welcome your replies both public or private.

I meet most of your outline. However I have been in business since 1989.
All I need is the PARbench software and hardware to link my 2000 and 4000.
If you can't find a home for it, let me know.

Hi, my name is Paul Cimino, my wife and I started "Periwinkle Designs and
Company" about 5 months ago. We are located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
Our primary market consists of small local business' who advertise or would
like to advertise on Cable. Right now we are very limited in what we can do,
since all we have is an A500, A2000, A2300 genlock (not the best quality, but
an engineer at the station "tweaked" it for us, so it is acceptable)
Of course we would love to expand this business into more than a side venture.
I believe we meet all of your requirements, if necessary, I can supply our PA
State Tax ID and Registration Of Alias for our company.
These are the items we could definitely use :
DCTV, Single Frame controller, ParBench, ProPage, ProDraw, and CanDo.

Now, here's my ego list:
I have recently (February '94) started a small DTP company,
RBProductions.
I run everything on an '030 accelerated A2000 and HPDJ500C. Though I've
only had a few, very local clients to date, I'm getting great enjoyment
from it.
During the day I work as an engineer in the automotive industry, and am
moonlighting for the fun and (minimal) profit of it.
I am hoping to expand soon into the DTV market – initially in the taping
of local sporting events. Having acquired Video Director and a 2300
genlock when General Computer went out of business, the only major
hardware component I'm missing is a camcorder.
I already have (and use extensively) PDraw 3.0 and PPage 4.1, so those
should certainly go to someone who needs them more than I.
I am located in Drums, Pennsylvania – somewhat south of Scranton.
Again, thanks for your offer – it's nice to read of the Amiga success
stories out there.
