Hiyo!! I'm in *DESPERATE* need of a program that will ZIP and un-ZIP files for transmission to a FidoNet node. I have PKAZip, but I don't think that'll work from within another program (since it's Intuitionized). Does anyone know where I can get my hands on such an animal, if it indeed exists at all? Thanks. Len – How good a programmer are you? I have source for a version of ZIP that you can compile under UNIX and VMS, among others. You can get the file QED from the UNIXFORUM where I got it. It compiles slick as a whistle on my Sun and VAX/VMS machines. I belive that the file is a UNIX TAR file. If that presents a problem, then contact me about getting you a copy in ZIP/ARC/ZOO/LZH format. Before I do that I'll need to check the license; but I don't believe that there will be any problems. – Nelson … – via Whap!

Nelson — How good a programmer am I? I can tell you in one word, but I'd get blown off the system! (^_^) My programmins skills are quite terrible, and bitter experience has taught me that there's no way that'll change. Thanks for the offer, but…. (^_-) Len Lekx [73300,723]

I'll upload a freely distributable version of the ZIP program (with source) that you can use from the CLI and a version of UNZIP (that does what it sounds like) that is also freely distributable and works from the CLI. Bill – via Whap!

Bill — Thank you, kind sir! (^_^) Which library are you going to put it in, and when do you figure it'll be there? Len Lekx [73300,723]

I uploaded those ZIP files into the Archivers library here in AmigaUser. I did it in the same session as when I replied to your note (Jan 23 I believe) so it just depends on when the SYSOP has the time to check the files and post them. Shouldn't be more than a couple of days. I hope it helps. Bill BTW the ZIP utility file is large simply because it includes all of the source code as well. ZIP itself is not that big. – via Whap!

(Actually, I don't really need it anymore. My FIDO boss has a version of LHArc for his machine, and is using it to pack my mail!) (^_^) Thanks, and I'll download them anyhow (one never knows when they might come in handy!) one of these days! (^_^) Len Lekx [73300,723]
