I found your name on another message – hope you don't mind my directing a
message to you. I've loaded the MCIAAP.DRV entry into my SYSTEM.INI file, and
added the driver to the Windows\System directory, as instructed in the
MCIAAP.DOC.
My problem is that this appears to be interfering with the driver that controls
the CD Audio funtion in the Media Player. When I restart Windows, having
installed MCIAAP.DRV, I find that the CD Audio entry in MPLAYER.INI has been
changed to "CDAUDIO=0,", even though it contained "CDAUDIO=17, CD Audio" before
the change. The "CD Audio" entry no longer apperars in the Media Player
"Device" menu.
I realize this is more like a Windows problem than an Autodesk one, but I
wonder if you can help shed some light on it!

What happens when you use a text editor or notepad to type those parameters
back into the .INI file. Does it work? Does it work then reset back to 0 next
time you use it?

No. The only way that I can restore the CD Audio is to go back through the
control panel. It seems that mplayer.exe detects that system.ini has been
modified, and then modifies its own settings.
(Incidentally, I also find that it is necessary to have an audio CD in the
drive in order for the control panel installation to take effect.)
