Any suggestions for where to find or how to make a lot of cars for rendering of parking lot and highway? I don't want to spend much (read "any") money, but hope for suggestions on making several quick replicas, with little detail to conserve rendering time, but enough to look good. Is this too much to ask? (G) Thanks. T.

There are a bunch of cars on the 3DS CD-ROM. There are many more on the Syndesis 3D-ROM. (414/674/5200) – G

G, Although I haven't tried it yet it seems that it would be fairly easy to generate very low detail car shapes using deform fit. I've been fascinated w/ this feature lately as I came across in the manual and I've made some objects that gave me that momentary feeling of greatness! Thanks, Gary

Hi Tolek, There are also a number of cars and trucks on the new "blocks and materials" cdrom from Modern Medium. Their number is 503-343-4281 The stuff is insert and render ready. Really good for creating a quick scene with a lot of nice objects. Thanks Larry Hewitt

Thanks Larry, Any idea on the price, or should I just call? T.

Hi again Tolek although I got in trouble for mentioning the price before, I will answer your question. The Blocks and Materials CD is due to start shipping this week, and the intro price will be $199. Its a great deal. There are about 19 cars and 6 truck/trailer combos. Also, a number of other goodies to dress up a street scene. See ya Larry Hewitt

>>in trouble for mentioning the price<< I believe it is completely within forum ettiquette to mention "manufacturer's list prices", just not street and discount prices. John Tissavary (LUNA cie)

Tolek, Is the project for a paying client, proof of concept, or Siggraph entry? Viewpoint Datalabs can get real creative when it comes to price if you can identify what it is going to be used for. We want our data to be used. We are looking for people who want to render a huge amount of datasets. We don't charge for data if you don't get paid for the final project. When you get paid, we get paid. I am assuming you have a Viewpoint Catalog. If not call 800-DATASET and we'll send one out. We have hundreds of cars and adding several more every week. Thanks, John W.
