I heard from a friend of mine in the techno shop that someone in Europe has made a software program that will emulate IBM hardware and let you run IBM software on the Amiga *without* buying any hardware. I have seen a program like this on the Mac, and was wondering if anybody has heard about this or knows where to get it. –HUT

Mike: There is such a program, it's called IBeM, and there's a demo version of it here in the libraries I believe. There are 2 versions, the 68000 version and a version for 68020/68030 users that is much faster. -Mike Schiller In sunny Fort Lauderdale

There is a demo version of IBeM (Amiga IBM emulator) here in the AmigaForums somewhere. I have used the demo succcessfully (on a 25Mhz 68030 based A3000) and it even runs at an acceptable speed. I don't think I'd want to see this crawl on an unaccelerated 68000, however. type GO AMIGAFF nad search the keywords 'emulator' 'msdos' 'IBeM' & 'IBM'. Mike.. IBeM is the program you want–written by a New Zealander. It's kinda slow, but it works–runs at XT speed on an 030 Amiga. Marion CROSSINGS Newsletter for IBM/Amiga compatibility

Mike, Look in AmigaTech, library 11, for: IBEM.LZH 11 56K 05-25-91 IBM Emulator This is a demo of the IBeM emulator. It works, but with limitations. The docs tell you how to get the registered version. Betty

Betty, Thanks for the info on the IBM emulator. The guys here in the office would like to be able to run a few programs we have back in the department with the 3000. I believe that there speed is not a concern for them, they just want to use a few simple programs. I will pass this message along! Thanks! MIke, WHat are you doing in an Army office with an AMIGA??? Not the US Army is it? If it is how did you get away with getting an Amiga. My AMO says there is no way we could buy anything that wasn't an IBM compatable (and an Amiga with a bridgeboard doesn't count). I'm interested in details.
