Hi, folks–
The 7th quarterly geo conference today at 1 PM Pacific was a dud; no one but
me showed up. Has everyone become dependent on CISmail reminders so quickly?
My apologies for failing to send them out. Or maybe the weather in the
northwest has become perfect for rockhounding in the field…

(Ouch <g>) Well yes, I was about 21 minutes late checking in, and by then
Co. room #8 was empty! I was prospecting for aluminum at the time, (read –
bottle and can drive for a local grade school fund raiser). If aluminum cans
could be measured on the same scale as firewood, I guess I donated about a
cord. <VBG>

Doug – mucho apologetes! We just got a new office desk for the house (for
another computer) and I started moving furniture at 10 am. Had all the PC's
offline until I finished at 1:50 PST. I'm open for another date, weekends or
an evening.

My CI$ line was down, and not answering – so I had to reroute my call via
Ithaca. I got there about 4:25, no one was there…… Perhaps you might want

We haven't got the bugs worked out of CO-ing yet….. 4/24 1PM pacific is
fine with me!!!!! I 'll be there unless otherwise specified……
Announce early…… Vote now, vote often!!! (OK, I'm on the horn in the wee

PS I'm not even going to mention Rocknet rules, but the moderator *has* to stay
online regardless of the attendees……. OK, sorry, I mentioned 'em… (heh!)

While I had not heard of this rule, I have managed to be in at the end of most
conferences, including the recent dud. I figure no one who arrived on time or
while there was any conversation left after I did… and note that no end time
was specified 🙂
That's you, me and Guy already for a conference 4/24; how about it, folks? Any
other dates that would be better?

Sorry Doug I did mean to attend. Here in Pacifica, CA it was a beautiful day. I
spent it outside doing various household chores including building a
combination fountain and Budda shrine for my wife. Also I installed some
outdoor electrical hook ups. It just slipped my mind. I normally log on after
work around 6:00 PST. The weekend for these type of things mat be bad timing
for allot of people. Particularly in the spring and summer months.
In addition I suspected that it was going to turn into some computer
shouting match over rock collecting regs and i didn't want to hassle with it.

Some will forget each time; I am starting to learn to CISmail reminders a few
days in advance. The only surprise was that no one else showed on time.
I had it in mind to propose in conference that we avoid the regulations topic;
enough has been said and conferences seem to me to be impractical for subjects
wanting lengthy discussion. Talking about regs is a matter of dull civic duty
to me; talking about rocks is fun!
Are there others out there who would prefer a weekday evening? There is no law
about Sundays, just that it seems easier to match time zones (especially if
someone overseas wants in), and no one has suggested otherwise.
