General wisdom has been that if after removing SmartDrive (or any software disk
cache) you don't swap, then yes — it's a good idea. However, if your
rendering causes swapping anyway, a disk cache _can_ help. It's probably
something you'll want to try, and maybe implement at least on a part-time
basis.
