#VAPOR and BROWSER
7 messages in this thread
I really like the look of the new VAPOR IPAS. How long till I can get a copy.
Looks like I've landed a job doing a 5 min walk though of a gym that's "Coming
Soon". They want to see all major areas, including the steam room. How well do
you thing Vapor would work for this? Or, how about using the SMOKE IPAS?
Also, I got a flyer of the new 'Texture Universe' CD. Looks good. How ever, I
donn't need another texture map CD just now (wish it came before I paid more
than double your asking price for someone else's). Any way I can get your
BROWSER IPAS seperetly?
The current scheduled ship-date for the new routines is May 2nd, as long as the
docs come back from the press on time (fingers crossed).
Vapor will certainly be able to handle steam release effects… I'm rendering a
steam test right now. Remember, however, that large areas of transparent
vapor/steam will be very render-time intensive. (you don't get natural
phenomena like that for nothing) It's a good workout for the render farm!
Re the TU Browser… the only way to get it is with the CD.

hi. isnt the iscan pxp the same as browser? well…except it doesnt show
thumbnails. but then the iscan is only available with the ipas toolkit.
ok…that was my two cents.
William,
<< iscan and browser.. >>
Iscan is an early version of browser. The REAL value in TU is the IPAS browser,
which lets you do keyword and filename searches on image and map paths
instantaneously, from inside 3DS. The TU browser has a
great feature of indexing directories, even off of a CD, and storing the
indexes on your hard drive. Iscan doesn't have any of that code.

well…si said it was only two cents worth of feedback. thanks for clarifying
for those of us who sometimes skip detail.
You can see thumb nails of you images if you build an index first of the
directory where your images are. Then browse that directory and the thubnails
will appear. This is all possible using the iscan.pxp

The Browser routine is worth the cost of the CD alone! It can be use for the
World creating Toolkit as well as other more expensive texture libraries. I got
mine the beginning of the week, and have fallen in love with the browser!
